About Me

Hi, my name is Michael Perkins and I am a fully qualified Integrative Therapist and registered member of the BACP. Being integrative means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor support to each individual — because no one-size-fits-all in therapy.

I have over 11 years’ experience working with young people with neurodiversity and young peoples mental health, initially within schools and more recently for a local authority, supporting young people facing a wide range of emotional and behavioural challenges.

I’m drawn to clients who feel misunderstood, overwhelmed or “different,” because I understand how isolating that can feel — and how powerful it is to finally be seen.

My Approach

My style is warm, grounded and deeply accepting. I’m not here to analyse you or push you somewhere you’re not ready to go. Instead, we stay close to your experience and explore things together at your pace.

We can look at-

  • what’s underneath the overwhelm

  • how your mind processes the world

  • what patterns keep repeating

  • what your nervous system is trying to protect you from

  • how to build a life that fits who you are

I blend relational, humanistic, and insight-based approaches, always adapting sessions to your communication style, pace and needs. Whether you’re neurodiverse or simply feel things intensely, I work with the way your brain works — not against it.

Who I Work With

  • Teens, students and young adults

  • Adults who think and feel deeply

  • ADHD

  • People with Autism

  • Overthinkers, perfectionists, internal strugglers

  • Parents of Neurodiverse people

Why I Do This Work

Because too many people are told they’re “too sensitive,” “too emotional,” “too distracted,” “too intense” — when really, their internal world has never been understood.

My mission is to create a space where your mind is not “too much” — it’s simply who you are, and worthy of understanding.
